Let's see if we can vent here without getting shut down again To keep it clean, let's try not to rage about specific people, or other forums lest we offend their admins... hmm have I said too much already? First RAGE: this board won't let me upload an avatar via Dropbox. It just fails with no explanation.

Well, I guess I can rage on not being able to change file attachment once the post is submitted. At least I haven't found a way to do it.

After the second hint to 5D, I'm going to rage at this contest I mean, I enjoy puzzles. That's why I play Lemmings and that's why I thought I'd have a go at this. That animals puzzle, if instead of leading to the nonsense string "APIEW SORONG", led to a short message that led straight to the answer, would be a really good and satisfying puzzle -- baffling at first, but everything you need to get started is there in front of you, it's not quite the same as any puzzle you've seen before, and once you get the idea, the process of filling in the grid is clear and logical. And then they ruin it by making the hidden message be a string of random letters, with no clues as to how to proceed from there, and then they have the infernal cheek to deduct points for telling us everything we've already worked out

What makes me RAGE about it is that I keep seeing Spiro Agnew in that letter set and realising it's one letter too few

And not so much rage about 4C but
You know, the day you present me with a triangular grid of numbers and tell me "Here's a puzzle based off Pascal's Triangle. You will completely fail to make any sense of it despite staring at it for days." is the day I laugh you off the planet.
But here we are. I am only reminded of this video from a bizarrely appropriately named game:

Ditto the above for the bands puzzle:
- what the hell kind of place is always black (and that on what's almost certainly the most important clue) - "has toured x place" is the worst clue ever for bands, what halfway successful band hasn't toured there and the rest of the world too
The puzzles focus way too much on trivia-type knowledge, the sort of thing that either you know it or you don't, and if you don't you're not gonna find out.

To be sort of fair, place X isn't the most friendly place for bands to tour, considering where in the world it is... But my Google-Fu isn't strong enough to use this knowledge to reverse engineer that one place, and my best guess for what clue it points to also isn't helping. I have a few last-ditch guesses for that and a couple others that I'll dump out if we aren't there yet an hour before the contest ends (all the puzzles those are for are worth their minimum, so there's no points lost for waiting with stabs in the dark), but still

I guess the tour-location thing might just be a way to make the answer more immune to guessing/Google-fu? It worked. Kinda like the Star Wars one in group 1 where it took Steve 3 hours of research to find the answer.

That animals puzzle, if instead of leading to the nonsense string "APIEW SORONG", Ok, I feel a little idiotic now, but they turn out to be far from nonsense. More on the puzzle thread.

I'm somewhat curious; what did you find? Considering that a lot of the teams that have gotten this so far have made several wrong guesses, even a correect leap here might not immediately lead to a right answer.

You saw it of course, but it only seems to lead to more RAGE!

You saw it of course, but it only seems to lead to more RAGE! Looking at the stats, it certainly seems we aren't the only ones
